Buying No.31

This time last year we had just started the process of buying our first home. It was one of the most stressful times of my life and I hated every second of it but I thought it would be fun to look back on that time.

We first went to view the house on the 9th January 2016 and to be honest it wasn't out of choice. We had our wedding booked for July and were still living with my parents so were getting pretty desperate if I am honest. My mum saw this house on Zoopla and it only had 4 pictures, all of the outside! We booked a viewing thinking that it would be another waste of time and didn't really hold much hope. On the morning of the viewing we actually considered not even bothering as we had been out the night before and were both a little worse for wear to be honest.

When we walked through the door I knew that it was the one for us. I could already see the potential and what I wanted to do with it. A year in we have almost finished making it our own but there are still a couple of bits I want to get finished so will hold off the makeover posts for now. I did want to show you the before pictures though.

A year on and I love our little house more and more every day and cannot wait to finish off all of the rooms so that I can show you the before and after photos!

2017 New Years Resolutions

I normally hate January! It is usually cold and wet and nobody has any money so you just sit at home eating all the leftover chocolate from Christmas that you promised yourself you wouldn't touch once January 1st rolled around. This year however I am quite enjoying it so far, it is only the 9th, I'm not sure if its because the weather has been lovely or because I am still on a high from a week in New York.

The best thing about January is that it is a great excuse for a new start, an empty ready to fill with wonderful memories and really make the most of. So here are my 2017 goals both personally and for this blog that I would like to achieve this year:

1. Blog once a week. I want to be able to look back on the 1st January 2018 and see at least 52 posts which document our life this year. Obviously more would be great but lets not make promises I'm not sure I can keep.

2. Take more pictures. I think this blog is the perfect excuse to take my camera everywhere I go this year. I love photography and really want to understand my camera better to get the best out of it.

3. Always take my make-up off before I go to bed. I am awful at this! I would say at least 3 nights a week I go to bed with my make-up on and my skin hates me for it. It takes seconds to take off and makes such a big difference so I am going to make sure I stick to this one.

4. Drink more water. Another one which really shouldn't be difficult to do, during the week at work I drink almost 2 litres every day but at the weekend I have hardly anything. We have just brought a water filter jug so I am hoping that might encourage me a little bit.

5. Move more. I am the laziest person you could possibly meet and it is catching up with me. Before the wedding last year I worked out quite a bit and was exercising more regularly but since then I have done nothing and my trousers are a little tight so I am going to aim for at least 30 minutes of exercise 3 times a week. Maybe.

2016 was an amazing year full of life changing moments so I am looking forward to seeing how 2017 compares.

Do you have any new years resolutions? Or have you already broken them?

Welcome to No.31

For the last god knows how many years I have been reading amazing home blogs by some wonderful bloggers and since we brought our own home in March last year I have been dying to start my own, but with a full time job, a wedding to plan and lots of other commitments it never felt like the right time.

Today is January 1st 2017. Happy New Year!

This year is the year for me, I have spent the last 2 years desperately saving for and planning a wedding as well as finally buying my own home with my new husband (still feels totally weird saying that btw!). This year is a chance to relax a little and really enjoy the life we have worked so hard for.

So here we are, the first post on my brand new blog. I guess I should tell you a little about me to start with...

I'm Jodie, a 26 year old perfectionist who is married to a farmer, has a very disobedient border collie and loves Christmas, has an unhealthy obsession with grey jumpers and would spend every waking
moment on a beach somewhere beautiful if possible.

This blog will hopefully bring together all of my favourite memories and moments of the coming year in one place so that next New Years Day I can look back and be proud I made the leap.

Welcome to the club :)
